Common Name: Reclined Ant
Scientific Name: Stigmatomma reclinatum
Family: Formicidae
Subfamily: Amblyoponinae
Description:
Stigmatomma reclinatum is a subterranean ant, typically dark brown or black, measuring 4 to 6 mm in size. It is characterized by its prominent mandibles and elongated body, adapted for hunting small invertebrates in subterranean environments.
Distribution and Habitat:
They inhabit tropical and subtropical forests, preferring soils rich in organic matter. They build subterranean nests in leaf litter or well-drained soils.
