Description: The Messor Minor Hesperius is a mainly granivorous species, watching how they prepare ant bread (paste made with seeds chewed by fingers and mixed with saliva) to feed on is very entertaining. It is a species suitable for beginners in the world of ant breeding.
Origin: Canary Islands and North Africa.
Recommended anthills:
Temperature: 23 – 28ºC.
Humidity: 50 – 70%
Hibernation: Yes. From mid-November to early March, between 12ºC and 15ºC.
Diet: Mainly granivorous (feeds various seeds), but also feeds on small insects.
